Audi A8 Engine
In 1975 the new Audi A8 was available with front wheel drive or all wheel drive Quattro. The front wheel model has 3.7L V8 engine which generates 230 horsepower and the Quattro model has Audi's 4.2L V8 engine which produces 300 horsepower.
The 3.7 liter front wheel drive model was stopped by continuing the 4.2 Quattro and 4.2 L Quattro models. Both the models are different because of the additional 5 inches rear legroom, heated rear seats and a navigation system which was available only with 4.2 models. Also some standard equipment offered by 4.2 Quattro are larger and clear headlights, standard projection fog lamps and a revised grill.

In 2001 Audi announces its new W12 engine model. It is a compact 6.0 L unit made by mating two 3.0 L VR6 engines together at the crankshaft. It is very similar to 3.6L V8 engine model which had been developed by mating two inline four cylinder engines at the crankshafts. The engine is immediately become available for only Asian and European customers.
A new 3.2 L unit featuring FSI replaces the entry level 3.0 V6 model which was shared by new A4 model of Audi. Significantly there was introduction of new 4.2 L diesel V8 engine producing 240 kW of power and it was the first engine offered in a passenger automobile.
