Audi TT Introduction
The TT was first shown as a conception automobile at the 1995 Frankfurt Motor Show. The plan is credited to J Mays and Freeman Thomas of Volkswagen's California plan studio, with Martin Smith giving to the home plan. The TT figure does non point "similar turbo" as is sometimes doned. The automobile is maked for the NSU TT, a little rear-engine example with an impressive racing blood that NSU produced in the 1960s and was placed on the NSU Prinz, although the new TT shares following to zero with that example's plan concepts.
The NSU TT was, in go, made for the celebrated Isle of Man TT bike races. The product example was launched as a takeover in September 1998, followed by a two-seater in August 1999, stationed on the Volkswagen A program used for the Volkswagen Golf, Skoda Octavia and others. Styling smart, it differed small from the conception, except for somewhat reprofiled bumpers and the increase of back quarter light panels behind the doors.
In August 2004, Audi announced that the next-generation TT will be made of aluminum and would get into product in 2007. A TT conception (the Audi Shooting Brake) was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005. This conception had square styling and a "shot brake" 2-door hatchback system way.
Also for 2008, a TT-S(S for Sport) and TT-RS (RS for Renn Sport in German, or Race Sport) are in the plant, like to the S4 and RS4 versions of the Audi A4. The TT-S will take a turbocharged 2. 0 l I4 producing 280 horsepower and the TT-RS will take a 2. 5 l 5-cylinder locomotive making 350 horsepower, both planed to vie with the BMW Z4, Nissan 350Z, and Porsche Cayman S.
An upgraded 4-cylinder TDI is too planned with production more than the new top-of-the-line 125 kW (170 hp) example. The TT was named for the North American Car of the Year prize for 2000. It was too on Car and Driver clip's Ten Best listing for 2000 and 2001.
