Audi V8 Introduction

The Audi V8 was a great opulence sedan built by Audi AG of Germany from 1988 to 1994 as the society's range-topping example, and was the best Audi to take its namesake locomotive form. It was replaced by the A8 in 1994, though the A8 would non be sold in North America until the 1997 example class.

Audi made a Group A contest edition of the V8 for entrance into the DTM (German Touring automobile Championship) and began speeding with it in 1990 with Schmidt Motorsport running the performance and Hans-Joachim Stuck, Walter Rohrl and Frank Jelinski getting.

Stuck won the claim, and the next class Audi added a forward squad to the mixing, Audi Zentrum Reutlingen. SMS covered with Stuck and Jelinski, while AZR raced with Frank Biela and Hubert Haupt. Biela gave Audi another top in 1991, but was incapable to support the claim in 1992. After that season, the DTM organizers deemed the V8's crankshaft unlawful and Audi retired from the title.
